About Us

Students Taking an Active Role in Society (STARS) is a Non-Profit organization whose purpose is to fund projects that will result in social changes to make the world a better place.

STARS has evolved to patent ideas for improving the infrastructure of our day-to-day life. In 1991, STARS achieved full 501(c)3 status as a Non-Profit, Tax-Exempt organization.

STARS has continued to evolved to support any worthwhile project that will enhance and/or improve society's wellbeing. Today, STARS funds projects that correspond to these objectives of the organization.

STARS was founded by E. Rafael Rivera-Weaver at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

We build projects for credit. Please join us to add your skills.

Under its original name Rent-A-Student in 1984, The goal was to provide opportunities for students to get college credit for real world projects. Since Eric was an Engineering student at that time, efforts focused mainly upon developing expertise to assist in community enhancement projects.
