STARS USA, Inc. was organized to create opportunities for students to advance their career development. Many of STARS' previous Officers are business owners, or senior executives. Active Community projects can create more benefits for students. The 501(c)(3) tax exemption can be used by any STARS member to develop any STARS project.

Procedures were developed to help students create projects for student groups to receive academic credit for them. However, all these procedures and methods are STANDARD academic processes. Any student can use these techniques at any academic institution at any time.

Defining STARS Projects will further add to your networking and community impact in the Tampa Bay area. But, if your student group seeks to develop a project proposed here independently we will help with direction, contacts and resources.

STARS was founded in 1984 by Rafael Rivera at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Under its original name Rent-A-Student, it s goal was to provide opportunities for students to get college credit for real world activities. Since Eric and Chuck were both Engineering students at that time, their efforts focused mainly upon using their developing expertise to assist in community enhancement projects.
